I currently run a range Photography and Photoshop courses at the Friends Centre in Brighton. Most courses are in the evening, but there is a beginners course sometimes on Wednesday afternoons. Check the Friends Centre website for full details of upcoming courses.

Taking photograph 2Would you like to get into Digital Photography and enjoy taking pictures more? This course is suitable for anyone with a DSLR, bridge or compact digital camera that would like to learn more about how to use it and take better photographs. Learn how to operate your camera with more confidence and get more from your photos. No previous experience is required but learners with some experience of cameras are more than welcome to brush up their skills. Lessons will focus on learning the camera controls, using a computer to upload and edit your images and discuss how to improve your photos with the class and the tutor.

This course aims to provide an informative and practical introduction to digital photography for amateurs and complete beginners. You will learn to locate and apply the creative settings available on your camera equipment to enable you to take better photographs. You will also experiment with different kinds of photography, how the camera can be used to interact with people and using photography for wellbeing and mindfulness. Learners will require some form of digital camera, whether it’s a DSLR camera, compact digital camera or a camera phone with advanced settings.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some knowledge of photography, this course will help you get to take better photographs with your DSLR or Bridge camera both in class and out. Learn how to improve your compositions through studying photographs and other professional photographers. We will look at how to adapt your camera settings to individual photograph opportunities and you will undertake a photographic project to improve your photographs in an area of your choice. Whether you wish to take better photographs of people or places, improve your compositions or just have fun exploring photography, this course will have something for everyone.

adobe_photoshop_cs6_iconLearn how to use Photoshop, whether you’re an absolute beginner or have been experimenting with the software already. This course will take you through the main tools and features for editing photographs and creating graphic images. If you have some experience of taking photos but want to move to the next stage of digital photography and transform your images into digital artworks then this course is for you. It is a beginners course, but people who are familiar with Photoshop will still benefit from many of the tips and tricks that will be taught within this course. Basic IT skills are essential for doing this course, you will need to be confident using a PC or Mac computer, be able to save and open files, be familiar with copy and paste functions and confident in using Internet Explorer.
